A Message from Our Founder
Teaching Writing with Purpose
With 22 years of teaching experience as an ESL teacher, elementary school teacher and homeschooling mother, I have worked with children from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of their learning journeys. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how children develop language, build confidence and become independent writers.
Throughout my teaching journey, I also became increasingly aware that much of the literature and content used in conventional writing programmes does not always reflect the experiences, perspectives or values of Muslim children. I wanted our children to have access to a rigorous writing education that would equip them to succeed academically while giving them the confidence to express their own ideas, experiences and perspectives.
This became one of the driving forces behind Write It Right Academy: to give our children the skills and confidence to find their own voices.
Today, as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into education, I believe this mission is more relevant than ever. While AI can generate text in seconds, children still need to learn how to think independently, organise their ideas, evaluate information and communicate effectively. Grammar and composition are not simply academic subjects. They are essential foundations for critical thinking, creativity and meaningful self-expression.
I created The Writing Room to bring together everything I have learned throughout my teaching career. Our structured, progressive programmes combine explicit instruction, carefully sequenced lessons, consistent practice, meaningful assessments and personalised feedback. The aim is to help children develop strong foundations in grammar and composition before progressing towards more sophisticated and independent writing.
Above all, I want our children to become confident, capable writers who can engage thoughtfully with the wider world, communicate their ideas with clarity and remain grounded in their values and identity.
As Founder and Lead Instructor, I am committed to maintaining high academic standards, small class sizes and a supportive learning environment where every child receives the attention and guidance they need to progress.
Every child deserves the skills and confidence to find their own voice.
